The German name of guggul is the Indian myrrh (lat. Commiphora mukul), also called mukul myrrh and is mainly cultivated in India. The Mukul myrrh is a small tree that grows from North Africa to Central Asia and from which guggul - a resin is extracted. The fragrant resin is very closely related to true myrrh, which is well-known in the Arab countries. In Ayurveda it is mainly used for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects on joint and bone problems. It is said to have a strong cleansing effect (through the kidneys), which helps to eliminate metabolic products and frees the skin from blemishes and acne, as well as alleviating joint and bone problems. The phytohormones it contains help to regulate menstruation. Guggul is used for diabetes and weight loss because of its blood sugar regulating properties. It is also used for cysts, tumor formations and abscesses, e.g. for haemorrhoids. The added BioPerine - black pepper extract increases the absorption of the guggul's ingredients.
