Indian sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus) is a highly valued plant in Ayurveda, which is one of the rasayanas, plants that revitalize and strengthen. Sarsaparilla balances all three doshas. It has a diuretic effect and, through the kidneys, cleanses the body of harmful metabolic products, thereby removing blemishes, acne, pimples and rheumatic joint problems. It lowers the uric acid levels in the blood and deacidifies. When you have a cold, it has an antibacterial, sweat-inducing and anti-inflammatory effect. It calms, relaxes and makes it easier to fall asleep. Sarsaparilla ensures balanced sugar and cholesterol levels. In India it is also used as an aphrodisiac herb for both men and women. The roots, which taste sweet and aromatic, are used for medicinal purposes and in Indian cuisine, including to make a drink popular in southern India called nannari sherbet.
Dosage: Dissolve a full pipette in water 2-3 times a day, preferably before meals
